When you are starting a website of your business you will always want your website to come on the top of Google ranking. But, this is not easy in this highly competitive world. Initially, you need to consider the number of word count for that.

So, let us see what the experts say about it. According to Searchengineland, more than 1,000 words will bring your website in the search results. Forbes claims that less than 1,000 words and more than 500 will be fine. Simultaneously, it also claims that less than 500 of them will not match google standards.

Google ranking

Why Are Employees So Important For A Brand?

Keywords are like keys which open up the door to reach the top of Google ranking. Now it depends upon the skills of the writer, how he or she manages to use them to make it relevant for readers. We have mentioned below the core areas on the website in which the keywords should be entered:

  1. They must be used on the whole page.
  2. Keywords must be a part of the anchor text (inbound/referral links create a link from another website).
  3. It must be present in the areas which are targeted most by the readers.
  4. It should be inserted in image alt attributes and also in the heading tags.
  5. Keywords are to be used in anchor text to which the links on your website bring.
  6. They should be a part of the exact address of your particular webpage.

John Mueller approach to word count

An analyst from Google, John Mueller, said that the number of words which you write on your website will not help you get the top ranking on Google. Mueller claims that there are some articles which are extremely lengthy.

Once the website visitors read them they feel like their time has been wasted. So, in simple it is a matter of quality, not quantity. It depends on how well has the content been presented. The content should be good enough and well explained.

On Twitter, a person questioned if it is important to de-index the articles which are shorter. Mueller replied negative. You will be surprised to know that Quality Rater Guidelines does not talk about the word limit. If a blog post has been titled “How to learn to count from 1 to 1,000”, the Quality Rater of Google will see if the blog post delivers the subject as indicated.

Relationship between word count and keywords

Search Engine Optimization plays an important role in this process. The writers who are writing a blog must make sure that they count each word properly. If there are 500 in total and the specific keywords used are more than 10, then naturally in the search results, it will be considered as a good blog post.

However, considering that fact that if an article has 2,000 words and the specific keywords used in it are only 15 words. Then, it is not a satisfactory webpage.

Using related keywords for better Google ranking

When a person makes a search on Google, they do not only use a word but they also type a sentence. For example, if they are searching about ‘hair color’ they might type ‘how to apply hair color, benefits of hair color, side-effects of hair color’.

So, the writers must select somewhere around 1,000-1,500 words for the majority of the topics, because this will give them a chance to write about similar topics.

You always know what you want

The information described is, of course, helpful in determining the word count that will be beneficial for your website. In spite of all that, you know better about your products or services.

It may happen that you are a start-up and have only a few products to sell to your clients; thus, your content may also have less than 1,000 words or let’s say less than 500. You should not be worried, remember that keywords must be smartly used.

That will increase the readability by the users on the basis of your well-written content, despite being a short article. So, remember if you take care of your keywords they will take care of you.
